How to add text to a PDF

  1. Choose or drop the PDF.
  2. Select Add text, type, and drag the text where it belongs. Pick the size and colour.
  3. Add as many pieces of text as you need, then select Save PDF.

Any language

Text is drawn with your device's own fonts, so every language and script works, including Arabic, Kurdish, Chinese and emoji. It looks the same in every PDF reader.

Good to know

Added text becomes part of the page, like ink on paper. It is not an editable form field, and it does not change the text that was already in the PDF.

Questions about Add text to PDF

Are my files uploaded when I add text to a PDF?

No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

No. This tool adds new text on top of the page. To correct existing wording, add text over it, or edit the original document and export a new PDF.

Can I add text on several pages?

Yes. Scroll to any page and add text there. Each piece stays on the page where you placed it.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
