How to sign a PDF
- Choose or drop the PDF you need to sign.
- Create your signature: draw it, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of it.
- Drag it into place, resize it with the blue handle, add the date if needed, then select Sign PDF.
Three ways to create a signature
Draw it on screen, which works especially well with a finger or an Apple Pencil. Type your name and pick a handwriting style. Or upload a photo of your signature on white paper: the paper is made transparent so only the ink appears on the document.
What kind of signature this is
Scissor PDF adds a visual signature, the same as signing a printout and scanning it. It does not add a certificate-based digital signature. That is accepted for most everyday documents such as forms, rental agreements and permission slips; check the requirements when a document asks for a qualified or certified electronic signature.
Questions about Sign PDF
Are my files uploaded when I sign a PDF?
No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.
Can I sign on my phone?
Yes. Draw your signature with your finger, then drag it into place on the page. Everything works in mobile Safari and Chrome.
Is my signature saved anywhere?
No. It exists only in the open page while you work and is never stored or sent. Close the tab and it is gone.
Can I add the date or my name next to the signature?
Yes. Use Add date to insert today's date, or Add text for any other words, and drag them where you need them.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
