The short version
Scissor PDF is a free set of PDF tools that runs in your browser. Your files are processed on your own device and are not sent to us. Use it for lawful purposes, keep backups of anything important, and understand that it is provided as it is, without warranties.
Who we are
Scissor PDF (pdf.scissor.studio) is made by Samal Studios ("we", "us"). By using the site or the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
The service
The tools run entirely in your web browser. Documents you open are read, changed and saved on your device; they are not uploaded to our servers. Some features download supporting files from this site when first used, such as the text-recognition models for OCR. The service is free, has no account, and may change, be paused or be discontinued at any time without notice.
Your files and your responsibility
Your documents remain yours; we claim no rights over them and never see them. You are responsible for the files you process and for having the right to process them, including documents protected by copyright, passwords or confidentiality obligations. Results may differ from what you expect (for example OCR, compression, conversions or redaction), so check the output before relying on it, especially for legal, medical or financial documents, and keep a copy of your originals.
Acceptable use
Do not use Scissor PDF to break the law or anyone else's rights, to remove protection from documents you are not entitled to unlock, or to attack, overload, copy at scale or reverse-engineer the service or its infrastructure.
Information you choose to send
If you use the contact form, report a problem, rate a tool or join the Mac app waitlist, we receive what you send and handle it as described in the privacy policy. Anonymous, cookieless usage statistics are described there too.
Intellectual property
The site, the app, their design and the Scissor name, logo and icons belong to Samal Studios and may not be copied or reused without permission. Scissor PDF includes open-source components under their own licences, including PDF.js and Tesseract (Apache License 2.0) and fonts under the SIL Open Font License; those licences continue to apply to those components.
No warranty
Scissor PDF is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Samal Studios is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, documents, profits or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
