How to make a booklet PDF
- Choose or drop the PDF and pick the sheet size: Same as PDF, A4 or US Letter.
- Select Make booklet and download the result.
- Print double-sided, flipping on the short edge. Fold the stack in the middle and staple along the fold.
How it works
Pages are placed two side by side on landscape sheets in saddle-stitch order, so after folding they read 1, 2, 3 and so on. A booklet needs a page count that is a multiple of 4, so blank pages are added at the end when needed.
Printing tips
Choose double-sided printing and flip on the short edge. If the backs come out upside down, your printer flips the other way: try long edge instead. Print one copy first to check.
Questions about Booklet PDF
Are my files uploaded when I make a booklet?
No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.
Why were blank pages added?
Each folded sheet holds four pages, so the total must be a multiple of 4. Blank pages are added at the end to make up the difference.
Which way should I flip when printing double-sided?
On the short edge. If the second side comes out upside down, switch to long edge.
What sheet size should I choose?
Same as PDF keeps the original page size per side. Choose A4 or US Letter to match the paper in your printer.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
