Private by design, not by promise

Most online PDF services upload your document to their servers, process it there, and ask you to trust that it is deleted afterwards. Scissor PDF works differently: the PDF engine itself is downloaded to your browser, written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly, and every merge, split or compression happens on your own device.

That makes it suitable for contracts, medical records, tax forms and anything else you would rather not hand to a stranger. See how it works and how to verify it yourself.

Why people switch to Scissor PDF

Private by design

Files are processed in your browser tab and never uploaded. There is no server that could see, keep or leak them.

Fast, even offline

A PDF engine written in Rust runs as WebAssembly at near-native speed. After the first visit it works without a connection.

Free, no strings

No sign-up, no daily limits, no watermark, no ads. Open the page, drop your file, download the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is Scissor PDF really private?

Yes. Every tool runs inside your browser using a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly. Files are read from your disk, processed in the tab's memory and saved back to your device. They are never uploaded: the site is static, has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy stops the page from sending data to other servers. You can check this yourself in your browser's network panel.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After your first visit, the tools are stored by your browser, so they keep working without an internet connection. You can also install the site as an app from your browser's menu.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.

Is there a file size limit?

We set none. The practical limit is your device's memory: files of several hundred megabytes work on a typical laptop, and smaller files work on phones.

Which browsers are supported?

Current versions of Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox on Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android. JavaScript and WebAssembly must be enabled.
