How to split PDF pages in half

  1. Choose or drop the PDF.
  2. Choose left and right or top and bottom. For right-to-left books, turn on right-to-left order.
  3. Select Split pages and download the result.

Books in every direction

By default the left half comes first. For books in Arabic, Persian, Hebrew or Kurdish, and for manga, choose right-to-left order so the right half comes first. Top and bottom works for two-up documents printed one above the other.

Lossless

The halves show the original page content. Nothing is re-rendered, so text stays sharp and searchable and scanned images keep their quality.

Questions about Split PDF pages in half

Are my files uploaded when I split PDF pages in half?

No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

Can I split a right-to-left book?

Yes. Choose right-to-left order and the right half of each spread becomes the first page.

Will the quality drop?

No. The original content is shown in each half, not re-rendered.

This is not what I meant. I want to split a PDF into several files.

Use Split PDF to divide a document into separate files by page range.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
