Edit or remove PDF metadata
PDFs quietly store details such as the author's name, the software used and dates. See what is there, change it, or remove it all before you share. Nothing is uploaded.

How to edit PDF metadata
- Choose or drop the PDF. Its current title, author, subject and keywords appear.
- Edit the fields, or select Remove all metadata.
- Download the updated PDF.
Why remove metadata
Metadata can reveal who wrote a document, which company or computer it came from, and when it was made or changed. Removing it before sending a file to someone outside your organisation is a simple privacy habit.
What gets removed
Remove all metadata deletes the document information dictionary (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer and dates) and embedded XMP metadata. It does not change the visible content of the pages.
Questions about PDF metadata
Are my files uploaded when I edit PDF metadata?
No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.
Why does my PDF reader show a different title?
Some readers show the file name instead of the title. Saving here sets the title stored inside the PDF, which search engines and many readers use.
Does it remove the text or images?
No. Only the hidden information fields change. The pages look exactly the same.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
