How to convert PDF to ePub

  1. Choose or drop the PDF.
  2. Pick Text to make the words reflow, or Pages to keep every page exactly as it looks.
  3. Select Convert to ePub and open the file in your e-book app.

Text or Pages

Text builds a real e-book: paragraphs and headings that reflow, with a table of contents taken from the bookmarks. It suits books, reports and articles. Pages keeps each page as a picture in a fixed-layout ePub, which suits magazines, comics, slides and scans.

What to expect

A PDF stores positions, not paragraphs, so the text is rebuilt from where the words sit on the page. Simple layouts come out clean. Tables, footnotes and multi-column pages may not keep their structure; use Pages for those. Scanned PDFs have no text, so use Pages for them as well.

Questions about PDF to ePub

Are my files uploaded when I convert PDF to ePub?

No. Scissor PDF converts the file inside your browser tab. It is read from your disk into the page's memory, converted there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

Which readers can open the ePub?

Any ePub 3 reader, including Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, Thorium and Calibre. Recent Kindle apps accept ePub through Send to Kindle.

Are the images kept?

With Pages, yes: every page is kept as it looks. With Text, only the words are converted.

Does it work for right-to-left languages?

Yes. Arabic, Persian, Hebrew and Kurdish text is detected and the book is set to read from right to left.
