How to draw on a PDF

  1. Choose or drop the PDF.
  2. Pick a colour and line width, then draw on any page. Undo the last stroke or clear a page if you need to.
  3. Select Save drawing and download the result.

Pens and colours

Draw in black, blue, red or yellow, with the line width you choose. It works with a finger, an Apple Pencil, a trackpad or a mouse. On a phone, switch between Draw and Scroll so you can move through the document without leaving marks.

Part of the page

Your drawing becomes part of the page, not a separate comment. It looks the same in every reader and when printed, but cannot be removed with an annotation tool later. Keep your original if you might want a clean copy.

Questions about Draw on PDF

Are my files uploaded when I draw on a PDF?

No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

Can I draw on my phone or iPad?

Yes. Draw with your finger or an Apple Pencil. On a phone, switch to Scroll to move through the pages, and back to Draw to mark them.

How do I fix a mistake?

Undo removes the last stroke. Clear removes everything you drew on the current page.

Can I erase the drawing after saving?

No. Once saved, the drawing is part of the page. Keep the original if you need an unmarked copy.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
