How to split a PDF at blank pages

  1. Choose or drop the scanned PDF. Every page is checked, and the blank pages are shown.
  2. Review the selection, and add or remove pages that should count as separators.
  3. Select Split at blank pages and download the ZIP with one PDF per document.

For batch scanning

Put a blank sheet between the documents in your scanner's feeder and scan them all into one PDF. The document is split at each blank page, the blank pages themselves are left out, and the separate files are downloaded together as a ZIP.

Check the selection

Blank pages are detected by how they look, so a very light page may be taken as blank, and a separator sheet with marks or scanner noise may be missed. Look through the selected pages before you split. Every page is rendered in your browser, so a long scan can take a moment.

Questions about Split PDF at Blank Pages

Are my files uploaded when I split a PDF at blank pages?

No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

How are blank pages detected?

Each page is rendered in your browser and checked for how much of it is empty. Pages that look blank are selected for you to review.

What if a page is detected wrongly?

Change the selection before you split. Click a page to mark it as a separator, or to unmark it.

Are the blank pages kept in the output?

No. They are used only to decide where to split and are left out of the files. To remove blank pages without splitting, use Remove blank pages.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
