How to convert PDF to PNG
- Choose or drop the PDF.
- Pick all pages or type the ones you need, then choose 108, 144 or 216 DPI.
- Select Convert to PNG. One page downloads as a PNG, several as a ZIP.
When to choose PNG over JPG
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which suits text, charts, diagrams and line art. JPG files are smaller and work better for photo-heavy pages. For those, use PDF to JPG.
Choosing a resolution
108 DPI is enough for viewing on screen. 144 DPI looks sharp on high-resolution displays. 216 DPI gives the most detail for zooming in or printing, with larger files. Every image has a white background.
Questions about PDF to PNG
Are my files uploaded when I convert PDF to PNG?
No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Type the pages you want, for example 1, 3-5. Only those pages are converted.
Why is the background white and not transparent?
Pages are rendered onto white, the way they look in a reader and on paper. This keeps text readable in any app.
How do I get all the images at once?
When you convert more than one page, they download together in a single ZIP file.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
