How to merge PDF files
- Choose or drop the PDF files you want to combine. You can add more at any time.
- Drag the files into the order they should appear in the final document.
- Select Merge PDFs, then download the combined file.
What is kept when you merge
Every page keeps its original size, orientation, text, images, links and fillable form fields. Bookmarks from the first document are kept. The merged file is a standard PDF that opens in any reader, including Preview, Adobe Acrobat and every web browser.
Merging large or many files
There is no limit on the number of files or pages. Very large documents are limited only by your device's memory. A modern laptop handles several hundred megabytes comfortably. If a merged file turns out bigger than you need, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.
Questions about Merge PDF
Are my files uploaded when I merge PDFs?
No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.
How do I change the order of the files?
Drag any file card to a new position before you merge. The final document follows the order of the cards from left to right, top to bottom.
Can I merge only some pages of a PDF?
Merge combines whole documents. To use only some pages, open the file in Extract pages first, then merge the result. Or merge everything and remove pages with Delete pages.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Remove the password with Unlock PDF first (you need to know it), then merge.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
