How to check a PDF's information

  1. Choose or drop the PDF.
  2. Select Show info.
  3. Read the details: pages, sizes, fonts, contents and metadata.

What you see

The page count and page sizes, the PDF version and file size, the fonts used and whether each one is embedded, and the number of images. It also shows the document's metadata, such as title and author.

What is inside

Find out whether a file has form fields, JavaScript, attachments or encryption. That helps when a portal rejects a PDF, when a print shop asks for embedded fonts, or when you want to know what an unexpected attachment contains before opening it elsewhere.

Questions about PDF info

Are my files uploaded when I check a PDF's information?

No. Scissor PDF runs a PDF engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your disk into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

How do I count the pages in a PDF?

Open it here. The page count is shown first, together with the size of the pages.

How do I know if fonts are embedded?

Every font in the file is listed with whether it is embedded. Print shops often require all fonts to be embedded.

Can I change the metadata here?

No, this tool only shows it. Use Edit PDF metadata to change the title, author and other fields.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily task limit and no watermark added to your documents. Because the work happens on your own computer, there is no server cost per file for us to recover.
